Can Do Multiple Sclerosis is excited to announce the launch of their newly published book, The Can Do Multiple Sclerosis Guide to Lifestyle Empowerment. The Bookworm will host a public book signing on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 from 6:00 p.m to 7:30 p.m. to feature Can Do MS Nurse Educator, Programs Consultant and Editor, Pat Kennedy, as she signs during the Bookworm’s Meet & Greet event. The book offers comprehensive information and includes the necessary tools to enable someone with multiple sclerosis (MS) to enjoy a higher quality of life.

A total of ten Can Do MS Programs Consultants collaborated in writing chapters to complete Can Do MS’ new multi-disciplinary book titled The Can Do Multiple Sclerosis Guide to Lifestyle Empowerment. Edited by Pat Kennedy, the 184-page paperback book provides the reader with over 20 years worth of knowledge and information accumulated by our organization and our unique approach to wellness.

“This book illustrates that the limitations someone with MS may face can be addressed in more than one way, providing them options to move beyond their MS,” explains Kennedy, “This is not a strictly medical book, but is an adjunct to the medical information people with MS and their support partners have learned. Living with MS is more than treating MS.”

This particular guide book is divided into nine chapters on various topics relating to MS, written by experts in specific fields of Neurology, Occupational Therapy, Nutrition, Exercise Physiology, Nursing, Psychology and Physical Therapy. Several chapters are written by more than one author bringing a multi-disciplinary approach of dealing with MS to the reader.

“People living with MS and their support partners want more information about MS to gain the tools to better manage their unique condition,” says Heidi A. Heltzel, Can Do MS President and CEO. “This book embodies our interdisciplinary approach to MS care management and is written for anyone who has, or knows someone with, MS.”

The Can Do Multiple Sclerosis Guide to Lifestyle Empowerment offers guidelines on popular topics relating to MS such as; goal setting, teamwork, living with the challenge, cognition, symptom management, exercise, nutrition, total health and support partners.
