  • Get Triathlon-Ready in Four Weeks at Vail Vitality Center

Training for a triathlon, or a season of competition, can be daunting for both first-timers and veterans, but coaching can make a big difference in the quality of the experience. Vail Vitality Center is offering a four-week training program, open to all levels, taught by Senior Carmichael Training Systems Coach Abby Ruby. The program offers new training techniques based upon Ruby’s experience as a Level II USAT certified coach and a seasoned Ironman competitor. Sessions take place on Mondays and Thursdays from April 16 through May 10, 2012.

The Triathlon Training program encompasses a variety of indoor and outdoor workouts, including swim technique training, bike intensity sessions, run intervals, and technique, form and transition tips and practice.

“This program encourages a community setting; a place for triathletes to meet other competitors,” said Ruby. “It also provides a supportive environment for anyone who wants to train and compete for the first time. And, everyone walks away with real-life training techniques and expert coaching.”

Ruby’s Triathlon Training program is a four-week session that takes place twice each week from April 16 through May 10 at Vail Vitality Center at Vail Mountain Lodge & Spa. Classes are held on Mondays and Thursdays from 4:15 to 5:15 p.m. Cost is $200 for Vail Vitality Center members, and $300 for guests. Pre-registration is required. For information or to register, visit the Vail Vitality Center website at www.vitalitycenter.com or call 970-476-7721.

In addition to teaching Triathlon Training and Power Cycling programs, Ruby offers a variety of one-on-one options, including: individual nutrition counseling for exercise and adventure, certified through the International Society for Sports Nutrition; strategizing for optimal performance, life coaching and sports psychology; Integrative Counseling, helping athletes actualize goals using an integrative body/mind/spirit approach.
