The Vail Valley Partnership (VVP) is a regional leader in sustaining & enhancing the Vail Valley as a tourism destination and as a place to do business by contributing to the identity and economic well being of the Eagle River Valley. The VVP takes a leadership role to bring groups, meetings, events and leisure visitors to the Vail Valley for the economic benefit of the community and our member businesses.
Did you know that State funding of tourism helps support 138,000 tourism-related jobs for citizens in Colorado? Tourism fuels a $14.6 billion state-wide industry generating more than $750 million in local and state tax revenue, not including property taxes. The mountain region alone supports over 27% of Colorado’s tourism spending.
Local tourism, the Vail Valley’s largest industry, directly employs 6,640 citizens. These citizens range from hotel and restaurant managers to waitresses and chefs at local eateries to entrepreneurs operating transportation companies and activity providers. Indirect and seasonal jobs related to tourism increase this even further.
Looking forward, the Vail Valley Partnership (VVP) will continue to build upon our accomplishments in the area of destination sales to help increase the number of both leisure guests as well as group & meeting programs hosted in our community. We promise to continue to offer the best and most cost-effective ways to promote member businesses to destination guests through publications, websites and various marketing benefits.
As state & local budgets are stressed to the max, it’s important to remember that tourism & recreation are an essential and sound investment for Colorado, the Vail Valley, and the mountain region. The business of tourism is highly competitive. People have endless choices when it comes to their vacation destination. We must continue to invest to remain top-of-mind with the consumer. The Partnership works on behalf of our community to support tourism investment from the State of Colorado via the Colorado Tourism Office. Locally, we work to promote our communities throughout the valley via our publications, websites, leisure sales efforts and of course our group sales efforts.
The Partnership is invested in supporting our local tourism industry as regional representatives of the Vail Valley on a statewide and regional level. As most here know & understand, tourism is a powerful economic engine for our State and region. Few other investments provide a proven return that is as strong or as measurable as tourism marketing.
Funding from the Vail Local Marketing District & Beaver Creek Resort Company to support the Partnership’s group sales effort helps us drive tourism, which in turn supports jobs and economic spending from visitors. VVP recruited events in 2011 provided an economic infusion of $39 million dollars through direct visitor spending, which breaks down to an economic impact of over $1 per second! The Town of Avon, Town of Eagle & Eagle County are further supporting the group sales effort in 2012 to help us recruit more sporting tournaments and participatory events in the future, promising even greater economic impact and guest spending here in the Vail Valley.
What can your business do to help? If you benefit from tourism and the Partnership’s efforts to increase the number of leisure visitors, group meetings and special events, get off the sidelines and join the Partnership. If you are already a member, tell your neighbors to join to help us do more here in the valley. As a membership-based Chamber & Tourism Bureau promoting the entire Vail Valley as a destination for both traditional corporate/association meetings, weddings, participatory sports and leisure guests alike, we couldn’t do it without your continued membership and support.
As always, I encourage all member businesses to get engaged with the Partnership and to contact us with any suggestions you may have to help us better serve you and for non-members to join the Partnership. Call us at (970) 476-1000 or stop by our offices in Avon at Traer Creek Plaza to share your feedback.
