  • Success Awards Celebrate the Vail Valley Business Community

American educator Marva Collins once stated, “Success doesn’t come to you, you go to it.” Under that premise, we have an entire business community filled with successful people “going and getting it”.

Take a moment to celebrate our local business community and the variety of success stories out there as we enter another ski season in an uncertain economy. The Vail Valley Partnership, through our Annual Success Awards, is helping to do just that.

The Success Awards (our ninth annual) honor local businesses in seven categories including Non-Profit of the Year, to which a portion of the evening’s silent auction proceeds are donated. The Success Awards are the main feature of the night with video clips and recognition of all finalists. Save the date for Friday, February 10th at the Vail Marriott Mountain Resort.

Success Award Categories include:

  • Non-Profit of the Year

  • Business of the Year

  • Small Business of the Year

  • Entrepreneur of the Year

  • Spirit of the Valley Award (formally Corporate Citizenship Award)

  • Young Professional of the Year

  • New Business of the Year
  • New to this year’s Success Awards are the Young Professional of the Year and New Business of the Year award. The Young Professional of the Year award is open to applicants who are permanent residents 35 years of age or younger. Due to the fact that the Vail Valley attracts a large number of young entrepreneurs, the Partnership believes that this is a much-needed addition to the annual event. The New Business of the Year was also added to the ballot as well. As the official resource and advocate for businesses throughout the valley, the Partnership strongly believes that new businesses should be recognized for their resolve and undertaking of a new business enterprise in a recuperating economic environment. Only businesses that have been open for 12 months or less may apply for this category.

Nominated businesses in all categories must possess a variety of characteristics including community involvement and commitment to providing a high level of customer service. Businesses must also contribute to the economic vitality and quality of life in the Vail Valley. Complete criteria for each category can be found at Vail Valley Partnership.com.

Award finalists are picked by our nominating committee consisting of business leaders throughout the valley and will be announced in early December. I’m always impressed at the thought and effort that goes into both the application process (by the businesses) and the thought and effort that goes into the award section process (by the nominating committee). Over 50 Vail Valley businesses have been nominated by their peers for a Success Award this year, again showing that the Vail Valley is a community filled with businesses and individuals who are not waiting for success to fall into their laps.
