Title:  Development Officer, Grants & Fulfillment

Department:  Development and Marketing

Reports to: Associate Director of Development

Position Summary:  The Development Officer for Grants and Fulfillment is responsible conducting all business related to the grant writing process from researching grant opportunities, writing compelling grant proposals, gathering all necessary submission documents, and fulfilling all grant reporting expectations for funding partners. Additionally this position will support both the Associate Development Director and the Director of Development and Marketing in fulfilling sponsorship, funder and donor obligations. Support donor fulfillment through stewardship and outreach is critical to the overall functions of the RRR Development Team.  This individual will represent RRR to various external constituencies and have personal objectives for raising gifts related to corporate and foundation support.

Location:  This position is based in Avon, CO and will ultimately move to the Campsite in Gypsum, CO in late 2018. This position may require some travel between Denver, throughout the Vail Valley and within our geographic region.

Qualifications: 

  • Specific qualifications include an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university;
  • Two to five years’ professional experience required.
  • At least two years working in a fundraising environment specific to grant writing is preferred.
  • Preference will be given to those candidates with extensive knowledge of computer systems and databases, knowledge of Raiser’s Edge, and personal solicitation and program development experience.
  • Candidates should have a proven and successful track record of grant writing and fundraising and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Word processing and spreadsheet knowledge is required.
  • Candidates should have the ability to build relationships and connect with donors on a level that is professional and shares the stories of Roundup River Ranch in a compelling manner.
  • Applicants must possess a strong command of the English language with the ability to compose, edit and proof individual donor proposals, grant proposals, and direct mail appeals.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to establish priorities are essential.
  • High level of analytical ability; multi-tasked manner of thinking; will be self-motivated and directed;
  • Possess excellent administrative skills, high a proven ability to produce results in a highly deadline-oriented environment; attentiveness to detail; self-confidence leading to creativity that will further elevate Roundup River Ranch’s fund development programs; extremely strong interpersonal skills, particularly regarding the judgment, discretion, confidentiality, patience, and understanding necessary for dealing effectively with a diverse body of volunteers, donors, physicians and professional colleagues; independence; a strong team orientation toward both internal and external constituencies; and ability to learn new software. Candidates should have a strong passion for the camp’s mission.

Key Responsibilities:

Grantwriting

  • Grant Proposal Writing:  Work with internal staff and partner organizations to craft carefully considered, well researched, detailed and persuasive proposals.
  • Reporting:  Create highly accurate, detailed grant reports that state activity of funding period and lay groundwork for future efforts.
  • Prospect Research:  Conduct research and gain deep understanding of current and potential grant options and use this knowledge to build strategy around crafting proposal requests and reports, while expanding the funding partnerships on behalf of Roundup River Ranch
  • Foundation Relationships: Develop and cultivate relationships with foundations and grant-makers to ensure long-term partnership and funding opportunities.
  • Manage and implement a system for cultivating and stewarding foundation and corporate partners inclusive of timely grant submissions, quarterly/bi-annual communication with funders, annual reporting, and a process for re-applying for funding.
  • Be responsible for researching, writing, editing and submitting grant proposals and all supplementary materials, communicating with funders on a regular basis as directed by the Associate Director of Development, and submitting reports as required in a timely manner.
  • Use and update as necessary the annual grants calendar/matrix and grants status sheet on a monthly basis to report to the DODM and the Development Committee.
  • Work with the SeriousFun Children’s Network to support national and international grant and corporate proposals.
  • Work in partnership with Associate Director of Development to nurture and steward relationships with existing and new corporate and foundation donors, with the intention of retaining and upgrading donors as the relationships progress.

Fulfillment

  • Serve as a liaison between marketing and fundraisers to ensure fulfillment of individual, foundation and corporate donor benefits and prepare final reports as appropriate (i.e. proof of performance for each event, sponsorship reports, and stewardship communications).
  • Utilizing Raiser’s Edge, input all grant and corporate proposals in the Prospect Module and track the status of proposals from submission through reporting in Raiser’s Edge.
  • Maintain complete donor records and keep updated notes and communication in the Raiser’s Edge
  • Responsible for tracking fulfillment of donor benefits including print and on-site recognition, event photos of donors and partners, PR and advertising recognition, social media posts and other benefits that recognize donors.
  • Work with the Camp Director and Volunteer Recruiters to develop group volunteer opportunities for corporate partners.
  • Work in partnership with the Development Officer for Individual Giving to maintain the online in-kind wish lists on Roundup River Ranch’s web-site, the Starlight Foundation and Amazon Smiles.
  • Write customized stewardship reports for all corporate and foundation partners throughout the course of the year.
  • Work in conjunction with the Marketing Manager to devise a communications plan with foundation and corporate donors over the course of the year.

In-Kind Gifts

  • Identify and solicit opportunities for in-kind gifts that will be budget relieving and budget enhancing across all departments of the organization.
  • Work in coordination with the camp team and vendors to support negotiating discounts, in-kind gifts and opportunities for expanded partnerships.
  • Fulfill recognition and support communication with in-kind partners.
