The Clinical Applications Manager is responsible for leading implementation, testing, maintenance, support, and optimization of electronic medical record (EMR) and other clinical software applications across multiple clinic locations.  This position manages and coordinates the design and production of identified projects that are consistent with the goals and objectives of the organization while having regard for innovative solutions, value management, cost effectiveness and functional efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop advanced clinical templates (e.g. HPI, ROS, A&P, etc.), workflow design, configuration changes, upgrades, modifications, and security of EMR/PM and other applications.
  • Participate in go-live, new release, as well as post-implementation evaluation to ensure that the functionality and performance of the system are optimal.
  • Plan, budget, oversee and document all aspects of the related clinical application.
  • Work closely with senior management to ensure that the scope and direction of each project is on schedule.
  • Leads the expansion and integration of clinical application portfolio across the enterprise and the multiple clinic locations to ensure tight integration and adherence to strict security standards.
  • Prepare and deliver reports, recommendations, or alternatives for improving processes in reporting systems.
  • Manage clinical applications support staff.
  • Establish, test and validate the technical requirements for system being implemented and/or support.
  • Proactively mitigate potential clinical application risks and devise contingency plans and escalate as appropriate.
  • Manage system performance and implement remedial actions and/or system upgrades as indicated.
  • Adhere to HIPAA compliance and other regulatory requirements at the federal, state and local level.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Attributes and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare information technology, computer science, or related area, required.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of clinical application systems experience required.
  • Previous management experience is preferred.
  • Advanced decision-making, critical thinking, analytical skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience creating policies, procedures, and processes for application support activities and managing projects.
