About the Vail Valley Partnership
A Staple in the Community Since 1964
The Vail Valley Partnership, a 501c(6) non-profit organization, has been engaged in the community from the early days of Vail, starting in 1964 as the Vail Resort Association.
The Vail Valley Partnership is the regional economic development organization representing the Vail Valley and Eagle County, Colorado. The Partnership has served as the Vail Valley’s official destination marketing organization (DMO) for close to 50 years and is also the regional chamber of commerce and economic development agency representing the Eagle River Valley. The goal of these various efforts is to work collaboratively to enhance the economic prosperity of the region via tourism and support of the business community via chamber resources.
The Partnership’s destination sales & marketing efforts, including group sales, event recruiting and leisure sales, will result in a total economic impact of over $69m in 2012, contributing over $4.1m in state and local tax revenues. Our focus on tourism efforts as a part of our economic development strategy is essential, as visitor spending in Eagle County equals $720m annually, contributing $44 million in state and local tax revenues. Direct visitor spending benefits hotels, retailers, restaurants, attractions, transportation services and other small businesses, and in addition directly supports jobs for more than 6,200 people in the Vail Valley region.
In addition to the Partnership’s destination marketing efforts, the Partnership manages the Economic Council of Eagle County, our economic development platform. The Economic Council of Eagle County, historically funded by the Eagle County Board of County Commissioners, was incorporated in 2006 as a 501c3 corporation to “promote the long term economic health of Eagle County”. This group continues to provide a variety of research and works closely with Eagle County government and other stakeholder groups.
As a private, nonprofit economic development, chamber and destination marketing organization, the Vail Valley Partnership’s funding is derived from many sources, including a robust membership program, extensive destination marketing programs, government contracts for economic development service and miscellaneous program revenue.
Because business and tourism go hand-in-hand, the Vail Valley Partnership also brings to the community a variety of signature programs that elevate the destination's attention to both guests and businesses. Signature Vail Valley Partnership programs include the Platinum Service Program (PSP), Lodging Quality Assurance (LQA), the Vail Valley Merchant Alliance and the Non-Profit Network. These signature programs are examples of how the Vail Valley Partnership reinforces commitment and dedication to improving the guest experience and adding value to the local business community.
